A List Apart is a must visit for those interested in web design. Please visit it.

Freedom 0

dive into mark Freedom 0 says it pretty well. It’s not about money; it’s about freedom. In regard to the switch from MoveableType to WordPress. I also swtiched because the program is better, but that is neither here nor there.

RSS : 10 Words

An exercise in clarity: RSS is another good thread on Signal vs. Noise that’s got people trying to define RSS. In 10 words. Yes.

Get the latest site updates without visiting the webpage.

Keep track of site updates in one convenient place.

Polling metadata feeds automatically is easier than revisiting web sites.

Onion Taken Seriously

An article that is funny. Haha. Funny. Wired News: Onion Taken Seriously, Film at 11. Read this. Funny. Haha.

MyFonts (or How I Made My Logos)

Go on ahead and Find, try, buy and download fonts online : MyFonts.com. That’s how I got all the cool logos you see I’ve got rotating on this here site. First, I used the free previews they offer on MyFonts.com, and then I layed them on the same size transparent background in Photoshop. After that, I used the Image Rotator provided by Automatic Labs to have them all rotate randomly. If you want to see all of the logos, you can check out the logos directory I’ve got going here.

Photo Gallery Programs

I’m looking into these photo gallery programs. If you know of any other good ones, let me know. Simpleviewer, Simpleviewer Admin, Photostack, and Gallery.

Top Ten Things They Never Taught Me in Design School

Design Observer: Top Ten Things They Never Taught Me in Design School:

1. Talent is one-third of the success equation.

2. 95 percent of any creative profession is shit work.

3. If everything is equally important, then nothing is very important.

4. Don’t over-think a problem.

5. Start with what you know; then remove the unknowns.

6. Don’t forget your goal.

7. When you throw your weight around, you usually fall off balance.

8. The road to hell is paved with good intentions; or, no good deed goes unpunished.

9. It all comes down to output.

10. The rest of the world counts.

PNG Demo

Drag the sun or the bird around the browser window, and watch the shadow as it moves over the sky. The Eagle does cool things. I don’t think this works in Internet Explorer. If you don’t have it, go get Mozilla Firefox.

Baby Zeldman

si-blog: Another Zeldman is a picture that webdesigners might find funny. Otherwise, I’m not so sure.

Copywriting on the Web
